PARIS — A local man accused of taking his girlfriend’s vehicle without permission and attempting to destroy it remained at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on Tuesday, authorities said.
Daniel Marshall, 33, 18 Tyler St., is being held on $5,000 cash bail. He is charged with domestic violence criminal threatening, operating after license suspension, unauthorized use of property, criminal mischief, driving to endanger and violating bail conditions.
According to Norway police officer Stephen Cronce’s affidavit, he responded to an incident July 19 at Marshall’s girlfriend’s home on Patch Mountain Road. Marshall was there, saw a message from a man on her cellphone, smashed the phone, took her vehicle and drove it up and down the road, burning the tires and damaging the engine.
After Marshall was arrested and placed in the cruiser, he “began yelling and swearing at everyone around, (slamming) his head off of my cage for several minutes,” Cronce wrote.
Marshall was convicted of domestic violence assault in April 2009, the officer wrote.
Bail conditions include that he have no contact with his girlfriend, not use or possess alcohol and submit to random searches and testing.
