DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a very nice wheelchair with a gel cushion. It will not fit a large person. I would like to donate it to someone who can really use it. Please come prepared to explain your situation. Contact me at 207-784-8891.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lisbon United Methodist Church will be sponsoring a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8. Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS to make an appointment. There is a big need for blood donations right now.
—No name, no town
ANSWER: The Lisbon United Methodist Church is at 14 School St. You never know when you may need blood yourself!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for Bob’s Red Mill Unprocessed Miller’s Wheat Grain, they used to have it at Hannaford, but for a while now they haven’t had any. Is there a place where I could find it? Thank you so much for all you do to help us out.
—Marie, Lewiston
ANSWER: When I looked the product up online, it was called unprocessed wheat bran, not grain. It’s listed at all the grocery stores in your area. Is that what you’re looking for? I have seen it at Reny’s and Hannaford in Topsham, at Big Lots in Brunswick, and some health food stores. You may want to ask if Axis in Auburn carries it. You can also order it online through Amazon.
Never be shy about approaching the customer service personnel where you shop and ask them to order the products you are missing for you. That’s why that section of the store is called “customer service.” They need to hear from customers!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On the morning of July 16, the water valve to my home broke, flooding my basement. I want to thank all those who helped me including the Lewiston Fire Department for their rapid response. I also wish to thank Lewiston Public Works employee, Nate Landry for referring me to a plumber. Thanks to Paul Bissonnette Plumbing of Minot. Thanks to Joey and CJ for coming to my assistance after finishing another job, arriving at 4 p.m., getting parts, and quickly and efficiently repairing my valve and water line. For your information, the phone number (207-513-3140) on the water bill connects to City Hall, not Public Works.

ANSWER: I’m so glad to hear you got the help you needed quickly and efficiently, Susan! We often take these public servants and service people for granted so I’m always happy to print public letters of appreciation here in Sun Spots Land.
