PORTLAND — Donna L. Turner, 77, of Norway, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 22, at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in Fayette on, Sept. 5, 1940, a daughter of, Howard Pearl and Clara Louise (Varney) Gray. She attended local schools, graduating from Livermore High School.
On Oct. 8, 1960, she married Harold Turner in Wayne. They made their home in Farmington for a number of years as she worked at Farmington Shoe and local retail stores.
In 1981, she and Harold purchased a dairy farm in North Norway. A tremendously hard worker, Donna continued to work in local retail stores early on and later as a CNA and med-tech for Androscoggin Home Care as well as foster over 30 children throughout the years.
She was a former member of the Farmington Emblem Club having gone through all of the chairs and serving as president, the Oxford Advent Christian Church and the women’s group, the Christian Motorcycle Association, and a longtime 4-H leader.
Donna loved to travel and had the good fortune of spending an entire summer in 2000 traveling to and in Alaska. She and Harold also did the “fair circuit” for years showing cattle and enjoying harness racing. Winters since 2007 were spent in Florida where she absolutely loved working at Disney World in various capacities.
She is survived by her husband, Harold of Norway; sons, Mark Turner and his wife, Terry of Norway, Timothy Turner and his girlfriend, Lois Libby of Oxford, and Thomas Turner of Norway; siblings, Doug Gray and his wife, Della of Lewiston, Becky Mercier, Ruthanne Bailey of Livermore, and Delma Dodd and her husband, Roy of Reno, NV; five grandsons and 11 granddaughters. She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Richard, Bernard, Lewis, Luther, Nancy and Gary.
