MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) – A Massachusetts company has been fined $194,700 for unsafe conditions at a work site.
Federal officials cited Roberto’s Steel Erectors of Fitchburg for 17 “alleged willful, repeat and serious violations.” The fines are for work conditions where the company was building an office building for Brookstone.
Federal officials fined Roberto’s $10,000 last year for an accident at an Amherst job site where a worker fell to his death.
The latest safety violations are for exposing workers to falls ranging from 15 to 30 feet.

Golden Ghost’ evades capture for 3 months
CANDIA, N.H. (AP) – Animal rescue officials in the Deerfield area have given Sam the golden retriever a new name: “The Golden Ghost.”
Rescue officials, police and residents have been trying to catch Sam since he escaped from his new owners on May 13. Dennis and Margaret Sklarski adopted Sam from a Memphis, Tenn., shelter in mid April.
Dennis Sklarski says Sam is afraid of people and won’t let anyone within 10 feet of him.
Since he ran away, he’s been spotted in seven towns. Animal rescue investigator Steve Sprowl says he’s baited kennel traps and hidden in the brush with a tranquilizer pistol waiting for Sam more than 20 times.
But even steak isn’t enough enticement to draw Sam in.
Sprowl says Sam isn’t considered a danger to people. He says the worst reports are that Sam is munching through garbage.
Sam is wearing a blue harness and a red collar bearing identification tags from Deerfield and the Memphis shelter. Anyone spotting him should call Sprowl at 674-9386 or Dennis Sklarski at 463-7435.
