RUMFORD – An investigation continues into an early morning wreck Friday on Route 120.

Acting desk Sgt. David Bean said that at 12:47 a.m., police received a report about a 1989 Ford F-150 pickup truck that went off the road near the Richardson farm and struck a guardrail.

Officer Mark Cayer responded, learning that the truck had been driven from the scene. However, Bean said, the disabled vehicle was found abandoned a short distance beyond, after its driver had left the scene.

Auto Tech of Rumford towed the truck.

In other police news, officer Eric Goodrow, while out on patrol early Thursday morning, discovered a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird owned by Kelly Deroche, 30, of Mexico left unattended in a turnout off Lincoln Avenue (Route 2), Bean said.

“It appeared to be abandoned,” he said.

“Goodrow checked it over and nothing appeared to be suspicious.”

Then at 10:30 a.m., Deroche reported the car, which had been broken down in her front yard on River Road, as stolen to Mexico police, he added.

Goodrow returned to the car, securing it for Mexico police, who took it back to Deroche.
