BETHEL – The Western Mountains Senior College will present the film “The Prize” at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the McLaughlin Science building at Gould Academy. The film will last longer than the two-hour class time. The film is based on the book of the same title by Daniel Yergin, one of the leading authorities on the world oil industry and international politics. He reveals how and why oil has become the largest industry in the world, leading to wealth, power and war. The great breadth of the oil history reaches from John D. Rockefeller to the Bush family and Saddam Hussein, as the role played by the “black gold” from Pearl Harbor to Kuwait.
This presentation has been made available as part of a Senior College seminar on oil and foreign relations given by Dorothy Dunton during this spring semester.
It is open to the public and free of charge.
