FARMINGTON — Richard E. Wells, 88, of Livermore, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 20, at Orchard Park in Farmington, following a brief illness.
He was born July 19, 1929, in Lewiston, the son of Carl Wells and Mary (Haskell) Wells. He attended Livermore Falls High School. On Nov. 10, 1960, he married Lucille Breton of Livermore Falls.
Through the years, Richard worked construction for Wilfred Mercier, Diaz Construction and Wayne Swan. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, and a 56-year member of the Livermore Falls Fire Department. During that time, he served in several positions, including fire chief, from 1979 to 1984. Richard was also an instrumental figure in restoration of the 1926 Maxim Fire Truck. Richard took great pride in his home that he built himself when he was in his 70s. He loved farming, bringing in wood, gardening, taking care of his sheep, but above all else, the time he spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Wells, of Farmington; daughter, Barbara Beaudette and her husband, Gary, of Jay; four grandchildren, Danielle Willard and her husband, Gabrielle, of Alabama and Jonathan, Matthew and Carl Beaudette of Jay.
He was predeceased by his parents.
