NORWAY – The Planning Board approved converting a barn to an apartment, building a shed and got an update on the progress of two other projects Wednesday night.

Beverly Kimball, representing Madeline Pratt, was given approval to change a barn into a three-bedroom apartment at the intersection of Solon and Tucker streets.

Currently there are two, three-bedroom apartments on the site. Kimball said the barn had been on the property for about 30 years.

“We’d like to do something a little more creative than store junk in the barn,” Kimball said.

Jodi Brackett, representing Norway Rehab and Living Center, received a permit for building a shed at the 29 Marion Ave. site.

“Only three more items to go,” said Peter Whitchurch of his site plan approval process for a new Christian Science Church at the corner of Route 118 and Morrill Road. He expects to have the plan completed for the board meeting on the April 24.

Keith Smith of Terrence DeWan & Associates, Yarmouth, updated the Planning Board on the latest proposals for landscaping and lighting of the proposed technology park site on Roberts Road.

Scott Williams, a lake scientist hired by the Norway Lakes Association, recommended to the architectural firm that they should take advantage of natural areas at the park where water can be collected in small ponds.

He said ponding the water would create additional storm water and phosphorous control. He also noted that ponding would take some of the pressure off the two retention ponds planned at the site.
