OTISFIELD – Selectmen took no action on a road striping request during their meeting Wednesday night.

Selectmen’s Assistant Marianne Izzo-Morin reported estimates she gathered were approximately $328 for one stripe and $656 for two stripes on Powhattan Road.

“I think before we start a project like this we need to bring it to town meeting and see if voters want to fund this,” Selectman Lenny Adler said.

Board members agreed and told Izzo-Morin to inform the residents requesting road stripes to submit a petition to request it be placed on a town meeting warrant.

Board members said they would not include the issue on special town meeting warrant. They would like it included on an annual town meeting warrant. The next annual town meeting is March 2004.

In other business, Izzo-Morin informed the board the community recently received $18,801.54 in surplus distribution from Casco/Naples Bulky Waste. Otisfield is a member of the consortium, along with Casco, Naples and Raymond. All of the member communities received a portion of the surplus.
