DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Hartford Heritage Society is holding a yard sale on June 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hartford Town Hall, Main Street/Route 140. We’re still looking for items for the sale. While you’re doing your spring cleaning, if you find unneeded items you would like to pass on, please call Rosie at 207-597-2270 or Doreen at 207-224-7147, for pick-up. All our fundraising efforts help the restoration of the J&O Irish Museum.
The museum will be open to the public on Sundays during July and August from 1 to 4 p.m. or by appointment. We also accept donations of items for display in the museum.
Thank you Sun Spots for keeping us posted on lots of important information and contacts. It is a great service to all your readers. Keep up the good work.

ANSWER: I hope many of you can donate treasures to this worthy cause, whether for the yard sale or for the museum to have on display. The J&O Irish Museum was once a thriving retail business originally built in 1888 by Orlando Irish, a prosperous local farmer. The store was operated by members of the Irish family, and was given to the Hartford Historical Society by James Irish in 1976. The building is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a must-see while visiting Hartford.
