LITCHFIELD — Marguerite M. Nelson, 84, of Litchfield passed away Saturday, May 19, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Auburn on Feb. 1, 1934, the daughter of the late Leland and Olivia (Pettipas) Nelson. She was educated in Auburn schools.

Maggie worked in the local shoe shops and for her father, until she moved to California for 14 years, then moved back to Maine. She then bought Oak Hill Trailer Park and ran that until her retirement in 1987.

Maggie was a fun, happy and loving person, being known for her soft-spoken, compassionate ways.

She enjoyed camping and fishing with her many friends. Her love was money and cards. She enjoyed her dogs and cats. She loved spending time with her family and going to visit for suppers at various houses.

She enjoyed socializing at local clubs. She was a member of the Eagles Ariel 618 in Lewiston. She loved to dance and enjoyed the waters of Tacoma Lakes.

She enjoyed her many nieces and nephews. She loved telling stories about her past, and sharing beautiful Christmases they had together.

She touched so many and will be missed.

Survivors include her brother, Leland Nelson Jr., and his wife, Celia; her sister, Betty Brandt, and her husband, Alvin; and her brother, Lawrence “Topper” Nelson, and his wife, Martha; and many nieces and nephews; her companion, Diane Berube; special cousin, Richard “Corkey” Pettipas, and his wife, Lena.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Melvin “Buzzy” Nelson; a sister, Patty Nelson; and a companion, Madeline Byricks.
