PORTLAND — Rose Hill, 71, of Topsham died Wednesday, May 16, at Maine Medical Center in Portland due to complications of her surgery.

She was born in Lewiston on May 24, 1946, the daughter of the late Leo J. and Arlene (Murray) Dostie, and had been a resident of this community all of her life.

Rose enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and scratch tickets, dancing, looked forward to Thanksgiving dinners with her family and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Karcher, of Topsham; one son, Michael Karcher, and his wife, Jane, of Auburn; one stepson, James Hill Jr., and his wife, Cherie, of New Hampshire; five grandchildren Jessica Karcher of Auburn, Nicki Karcher of Auburn, Mike Karcher Jr. of Augusta, Jordan Hill and his wife, Casey, of New Hampshire and Ceara Hill of New Hampshire; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Karcher, who was like a son to her, Haley Breton, Travis, Rhianna, Trevor, Hunter and Adrianna Karcher; three sisters, Linda Dostie Scott and her husband, Mike, of South Carolina, Hope Hughes of Lewiston and Teena Provencher and her husband, Greg, of Rumford; one brother, Tom Dostie, and his wife, Irene, of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, James C. Hill Sr., who died in November 2000; and by three brothers, Robert, Ronald and Leo Jr.
