JAY — Sam Storer belted a well-timed RBI double in the sixth inning that ignited a seven-run rally as Mt. Abram edged Spruce Mountain in a hard-fought baseball tilt Monday. 

Ben Dibiase and Hayes Warren led the Roadrunners (4-3) with two hits and two RBIs each. Warren picked up the win after relieving Storer in the third.

Landon Brochu and Jordy Daigle led the Phoenix (2-4) with two hits apiece.

Daigle suffered the loss after working the first five frames.   

St. Dom’s 14, NYA 0

NORTH YARMOUTH — Hunter Hughes scattered two hits and drew ample run support as St. Dom’s rolled to a 14-0 baseball victory over North Yarmouth Academy.

Riley Volpe led the Saints (3-2) with two hits and four RBIs, while Hughes helped his own cause with two hits and two RBIs.

The Panthers (1-3) were paced by Justin Strabley and William Linscott, who each had singles. Strabley also suffered the mound loss after working the first frame.   

Boys’ lacrosse

Maranacook 17, St. Dom’s 5

KENTS HILL — Sayles Boucher scored five goals and made three assists to propel Maranacook to a 17-5 boys’ lacrosse victory over St. Dom’s on Monday. 

Tanner Evans also tallied five times for the Black Bears, while Garritt LaLiberte and Tim Worster each scored twice. Single goals from Owen Austin, Ian Dow and Colin Ader completed the scoring.

Will Fletcher led the winless Saints (0-4) with three goals and one assist, while Alex Roy and Robbie Dick each scored a goal. 

Will Hayes made nine saves for Maranacook, while Max Comis turned aside nine shots for St. Dom’s. 

Softball

Lewiston 8, Mt. Blue 1

LEWISTON — Megan Theriault and Danielle Cyr combined to shut down Mt. Blue as the Lewiston softball team continued its 2018 hot streak with an 8-1 rout Monday. 

Cyr earned her fourth win as the season. Gemma Landry led the Blue Devils (5-1) with three hits, while Theriault and Jordan Mynahan also pounded out three hits. Emily Mousseau also contributed with a single and a double.

Rylee Briggs and Maddy Smith led the Cougars with doubles, while Adelle Foss suffered the loss. 

Spruce Mountain 12, Mt. Abram 5

JAY — Spruce Mountain built a four-run advantage in the first three innings and raced away to a 12-5 victory over Mt. Abram on Monday. 

Allison Acritelli led the Phoenix (4-2) with four hits, while JuJu Doiron belted out three hits. Haley Turcotte and Hailee Perkins contributed with two hits apiece.

The Roadrunners (0-6) were led by Cam Wahl’s two hits.  

Telstar 19, Mountain Valley 6, 5 innings

RUMFORD — Telstar jumped out to a six-run advantage in the first frame and never eased off the gas, racing away to a 19-6 softball win over Mountain Valley on Monday. 

Kylie Martin scattered six hits in the circle for Telstar during five innings of work. 

Sadie Garbarini led the Falcons (0-6) with three hits and three RBIs. 

Leavitt 15, Waterville 3

TURNER — Leavitt jumped out to a three-run advantage in the first inning and raced away to a 15-3 rout over Waterville in softball action Monday. 

Emily Swan led the Hornets with three hits and three RBIs. Anna Prosser also pounded out three hits and drove in three runs. Annika Mitchell contributed four hits in the contest.

Waterville was paced by Hannah LeClair with a single, a double and two RBIs. 

Fryeburg 3, Greely 2, 10 innings

FRYEBURG — Grace Condon hit a shallow fly ball to center field that plated a run and allowed Fryeburg to pull out a narrow 3-2 softball win over Greely on Monday. 

Fryeburg started the scoring in the bottom of the second when Paige O’Connell belted an opposite-field triple and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Madison McIntyre. Greely took the lead in the sixth when Delia Knox hit a two-out, two-run RBI single. 

The Raiders would answer in the bottom half of the inning to tie it up at 2-2 thanks to an RBI single from Kristina Leblanc.
