Sabattus Regional Credit Union recently distributed checks to local food pantries and school programs. The credit union placed 15th in total funds raised in Maine and fourth in per member contributions. This year, through fundraising efforts, the credit union raised $12,274.95. The Maine Credit Union League presented the credit union with an additional award of $1,650 for a total of $13,924.95 to local organizations in need. With the presentation are, in front, Betty Leighton, Wales Presbyterian Food Pantry; Cheryl Stewart, Community Free Baptist; and Kenneth Smith, Wales Presbyterian Food Pantry. In back, Kelli Rogers, principal of Sabattus Primary and Libby Tozier schools; Laura Zimmerman, Rural Community Action Ministry; Michelle Firczak, executive vice president, Sabattus Regional Credit Union; Flo Poulin, teller; Melinda Nadeau, Carrie Ricker Food Pantry and nurse in Regional School Unit 4; and Rachel Rac, loan officer for Sabattus Regional Credit Union. Absent are representatives of Loaves & Fishes and Leeds Community Church.
