PARIS — Two big innings helped Oxford Hills defeat Bangor 12-0 in six innings in a KVAC softball contest Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings scored six runs in the bottom of third and another five in the bottom of the fifth. A Brooke Carson double that scored Kaisa Heikkinen enacted the mercy rule.
Carson also had a single in the game and three total RBIs.
Heikkinen also had a single and a double in the contest. Madison Starbird, Lauren Merrill, Ashley Childs and Madison Day each had two singles.
Merrill and Sydney Crocker combined for the four-hit shutout.
Baseball
Lakers, Vikings split
THORNDIKE — Rangeley and Vinalhaven earned a split Saturday in Class D baseball action played at Mt. View High School. The Lakers took game one 10-8, while Vinalhaven took the second game 10-9.
Both teams are now 2-2 on the season.
Kyle Larochelle sparked Rangeley in game one with four RBIs and three runs scored.
Bo Beaulieu and Zach Trafton each had a double and a single in the victory. Beaulieu had two RBIs, and Trafton scored twice.
Elijah Ames had a double and a single for the Vikings, while Frank Osgood had two hits. Each had a single in a seven-run top of the fourth. Rangeley recorded three errors in the inning.
In game two, Breklin Bartlett had a double to spark the Vikings’ offense. Vinalhaven scored three times in the bottom of the second, then added two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Brian Williams had a two-run single in the top of the sixth, during which Rangeley scored five times. Leo Perez and Beaulieu each had two hits in the losing effort.
Oak Hill 10, Boothbay 7
BOOTHBAY — Reid Cote hit two home runs and drove in four runs for Oak Hill in a 10-7 win over Boothbay in an MVC baseball contest Saturday.
Ezra Juray had three singles for Oak Hill, while Colby Webster had a double and a single.
Trailing 7-1 entering the top of the sixth, the Raiders scored six times in the frame to tie the game. They added three more runs in the top of the seventh.
Hunter Crocker had a triple and two singles for the Seahawks. Elijah Gudroe had two RBIs in the losing cause.
