WATERVILLE — With its season on the line, the Bates College men’s lacrosse team defeated Colby College 20-15 on Wednesday afternoon in annual Flahive, McDuffee, Sandler Memorial Game.
The win propelled them into the conference tournament for the fourth straight season. Bates (8-7, 4-6 NESCAC) will travel to face top-seeded Wesleyan (12-2, 9-1 NESCAC) for the quarterfinals, to be played Saturday.
Matt Chlastawa paced the Bobcats on Wednesday with three goals and six assists. Clarke Jones had four and assist, while Brendan Mullally had three goals and six assists. Jack Scribner had three goals.
Tucker Dietrick and C.J. Hassan each had four goals for the Mules, and Charlie Lynch and Billy Jacobs had a pair of goals apiece.

Colby 8, Bates 7, OT
LEWISTON — Emma Banks played hero for Colby, scoring early in the overtime session to give the Mules a 8-7 victory over Bates in a the regular-season finale for both teams.
The game-winner was Banks’ second goal of the evening and put Colby into the NESCAC tournament and eliminated Bates from the postseason picture.
Sasha Fritts had three goals for Colby. Grace Langmuir and Kendall Smith each had a goal in the win.
Teal Otley had three goals for the Bobcats, while Liv Sandford scored two goals, and Allison Dewey and Summer Dias each had a goal.
