AUBURN — Phyllis I. (Gordon) Bray, 88, a resident of Turner, passed away Sunday, April 8, at Clover Manor in Auburn surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.
She was born July 2, 1929, in Leeds, the daughter of Maurice Elbridge Gordon and Grace (Carver) Gordon. She attended schools in Livermore and was a graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner. Phyllis worked as a secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting and other crafts. Phyllis also loved to read.
She is survived by her children, George A. Bray III and his wife, Diane, of Hartford, Debra L. Bray of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Laurie J. Bray of Reno, Nev., Julie A. Bray of Lewiston and Michael G. Bray of Berlin, N.H.; two granddaughters, Stephanie L. Downey and her husband, Bill, of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Amanda K. Bray and companion, Nate Cote, of Auburn; three great-grandchildren, Nathan and Abigail of Florida and Bradford of Auburn; her sisters, Theresa A. Gordon of Portland and Maureen Williams and her husband, Jim, of Lisbon.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Clover Health Care for caring for her for the past two years and for Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their care over the last few weeks.
