DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m wondering if anyone in the area has a small camper they are looking to sell? TLC needed is okay! 14-18 foot, one axel. Please call 207-577-8164.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My husband is dreaming of making his summer garden again and would like to know if there is anyone out there who may own a three-point hitch garden plow they no longer use. This would be for a 32-horse tractor. Please call 207-782-5118.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was also a long-time customer of Central Maine Veterinary Hospital for 20-plus years who wasn’t notified of the closing. I sent a request to the email address you printed in the column today back on Feb. 26 and have not received any response yet. I also said I would come to pick the records up to save postage.
I hope you can find them for us. They were a wonderful organization and I wouldn’t hesitate to follow the vets to another business.
—John, Lewiston
ANSWER: This really is an unfortunate situation. The Maine Board of Veterinary Medicine in Augusta does have a complaint department but they need to know the name of the business and the business owner —not the veterinarian. The owner “owns” the records, not the doctors who were part of the practice. The number is 207-624-8603.
You may also want to lodge a complaint with The Attorney General’s Consumer Mediation Service. This is a free service to Maine consumers who have a problem with a business. Martha Currier, the complaint examiner, oversees the Consumer Mediation Program. She can help you file a consumer complaint and answer questions. You can write to her and her staff at: Attorney General’s Consumer Information and Mediation Service, 6 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333.
You can also email consumer.mediation@maine.gov. Be sure to include your name, address and phone number. You can call the Consumer Information and Mediation Service from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday, at 207-626-8849 or toll-free at 1-800-436-2131. DEAR SUN SPOTS: After trying many different tricks, with no effect, I turn to you, dear Sun Spots. No matter how hard I try, I cannot get fresh-smelling laundry out of my fancy HE washer. The size load of clothes doesn’t make a difference. I use warm water and borax, with HE detergent. I also always put every load through an extra rinse. I figure if anyone can find a solution, it is you.
You are always greatly appreciated and I am your loyal fan.

ANSWER: If you haven’t already, mix 1/4 cup baking soda with 1/4 cup water. Put this in your machine’s detergent container. Pour two cups white vinegar into the drum and set your machine to a normal load with hot water (minus laundry). After you do this, wipe down and around the rubber door gasket with one cup vinegar and one cup water mixed together. Repeat this every two weeks or so.
Also, be sure to dry the washer really well with a towel after every use and leave the door open for a while after each use, too. Every once in awhile, wipe the inside of the machine out with more vinegar and water as needed. Be sure to clean out the soap and fabric softener dispensers as well. Let me know how it goes.
