FARMINGTON — Twenty members of a superintendent search committee in Regional School Unit 9 participated in interview training Tuesday.

Superintendent Tom Ward is retiring June 30.

The committee is composed of community members, parents, administrators, support staff, teachers and board members, Tami Labul, chairwoman of the school’s board Administrative Evaluation Committee, said Wednesday.

Interviews will be conducted in two weeks, she said.

Steven Bailey, executive director of the Maine School Management Association, told members of the search committee they are not allowed to tell how many applications have been received, Labul and other members of the committee said Tuesday night.

The deadline for applications was Feb. 23.

The Administrative Evaluation Committee is reviewing the results of the surveys from residents to formulate questions for the candidates, Labul said.

Members of the committee have visited schools to learn what qualities the staff would like in a new superintendent.
