POLAND — Town officials have postponed a public hearing on the municipal complex until Wednesday, March 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Town Hall.

The hearing had been scheduled for March 7.

The Municipal Complex Plan Design was first drawn in 2013 and included adding more parking, green space and making three contiguous properties on Maine Street into one complex.

Although architectural designs were completed, no funding was approved and no engineering has been done.

Although most citizens agree that more parking is needed for the municipal complex, according to a written statement from the town, some feel that the added extras such as sidewalks, lighting and a proposed gazebo are too much.

The project went dormant until last April when the Board of Selectpersons asked residents for approval to spend money for an engineering plan. That plan has been developed, with a few slight differences from the original concept.

The board wants to keep residents involved in how the complex will look, along with how phasing the project for cost management can happen, according to the statement.
