LEWISTON — More than a dozen people were left homeless following a fire Sunday afternoon at an Walnut Street apartment building.

No was one hurt but 13 people who were displaced are still without a home.

Investigators say the fire started accidentally about 1 p.m. Sunday in the laundry room of a third floor unit due to the improper taping of a water pipe

Crews were able to knock it down in about 20 minutes.

The whole building had to be evacuated but the first and second floor tenants have since been allowed back in.

The third floor tenants still haven’t been allowed back in.
