LEWISTON — The LA CA$H Coalition has a new tax season partnership with staff and students of Kaplan University.
Dr. Patti Pelletier, academic dean for Kaplan Maine Campuses, has joined the LA CA$H Coalition, and through her involvement, the coalition now has on board Anthony Tenneson, who recently retired from Kaplan, as the site coordinator for the coalition’s annual free tax prep service at the Lewiston Armory.
In addition, Kaplan student Jillian Shepard will serve as appointment scheduler and resource coordinator.
Face-to-face free tax preparation will again be offered, as well as “Scan & Go,” a new tax preparation option. IRS Spec Representative Tess Armstrong will be on site to highlight the Earned Income Tax Credit, a federal credit that many low-to-moderate income individuals aren’t aware of.
LA CA$H is now in its 15th year of providing free tax preparation/e-filing to area residents and connecting them with financial resources that enhance self-sustainability. LA CA$H is funded through a portion of a statewide VITA grant and the Gorman Foundation.
