VOORHEES, N.J. — Rita L. (Gagnon) Lee Fuller, 93, a former resident of Jay, passed away early Sunday morning, Jan. 14, at the Senior Living Center in Voorhees, N.J., surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 30, 1924, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Onemise Gagnon and Rose (Michaud) Gagnon. She was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Rita met her first husband, Jack Lee, and they were married in San Francisco, Calif., on Nov. 25, 1945. They enjoyed 26 years of marriage before Jack’s passing on March 22, 1972. She later met Maurice Fuller, and they were married in 1976 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Maurice passed away Dec. 8, 2011.
After Rita’s return to Maine, she enrolled at Farmington State Teachers College and graduated in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in teaching. She taught home economics for SAD 52 in Leeds and Turner, and served as assistant principal at Tripp Middle School in Turner. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Rita was a member of the Maine Teachers Association, the National Teachers Association and the American Legion, George Bunton Post 10, in Livermore Falls.
She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Bouchard, and her husband, Ken, of Blackwood, N.J.; stepchildren, Karen Blais and her husband, Norman, of Ticonderoga, N.Y., Stephen Fuller and his wife, Ellen, of San Ramon, Calif., and Janet Zawacki, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Irene Lee, of Vasselboro; six grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Jack Lee and Maurice Fuller; daughter, Linda Tilton; son, Kenneth Lee; sisters, Blanche Galuza and Cecile Robinson; brothers, Wilfred, Albert, Norman and Robert Gagnon.
