AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library will present a Teen Life Skills Series for the fifth time. Each month, the APL will host programs that offer important life skills for teens.
The 2018 series will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 9, with a four-part program on nutrition. Teens are invited to learn about healthy eating by participating in the series, titled “10 Tips for Teens.”
The class is a place where teens will learn how to add more fruits and vegetables to their diet while learning basic cooking skills. At each class, teens will make and eat a recipe and play games, which will include prizes.
The Auburn Public Library welcomes Healthy Androscoggin back for the series. Classes will take place weekly from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30, in the Androscoggin Community Room.
For planning purposes, registration is requested for the programs. Teens may register by calling 207-333-6640, ext. 4, or visiting www.auburnpubliclibrary.org, click the events tab at the top of the page and scroll to the program. Although teens need not register for all four, they are encouraged to do so.
The series will continue in February, again on Tuesdays, from 3 to 4 p.m. Feb. 6, 13 and 27. During the month, to observe Dating Violence Awareness Month, the library will welcome educators from Safe Voices and the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services. They will offer programs designed to educate teens about healthy relationships.
The series will continue in March and April with programs on job searching, including applying and interviewing, and will conclude with Money Smart Week April 21 to 28, offering programs geared toward teaching appropriate budgeting and money management skills.
The programs are designed for teens ages 12 to 18.
