DURHAM — Philip R. Anderson, 93, of Holland Lane, Durham, passed away Dec. 23.
Philip was born in Sanford in 1924, son of Stephen and Hope Anderson. Philip graduated from Brunswick High School in 1942. Philip married Louise Aldrich of Hobart, N.Y., on Oct. 5, 1947, in Durham.
Philip served in the European Theatre during WWII with the 2nd Armored Division. He worked for Hyde Windlass Company and Bath Iron Works and retired in 1988.
He was a member of the Bath Municipal Band for many years. Philip enjoyed traveling with his wife and working around his home and his cottage on the lake.
He was an avid water skier into his late 70s and golfing into his early 90s.
Philip and Louise enjoyed traveling and especially a month-long vacation in Europe. Philip was a member of the Shiloh Church in Durham.
Philip is survived by two of his three sons, Sheldon and his partner, Susan Bird, of Bow, N.H., and Clyde and his wife, Debbie, of Durham; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Philip was predeceased by his wife, Louise; son, Stephen; and brother, Bert.
