DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Rumford Catholic Library will be closing the Blessed Mother’s Food Pantry on Friday, Dec. 15, until the spring. Approximately 200 pounds of assorted bagged, canned and packaged foodstuffs; 60 pounds of assorted Prince pasta; 50 pounds of gluten-free assorted specialty flours and meals; and 10 frozen 15-pound turkeys are available for pick-up, first-come, first-serve. Please call 364-3964 or 781-784-3514 to arrange a time and confirm availability.

ANSWER: If you are in need, I hope you will take advantage of this food surplus. When you make the call, the kind ladies at the pantry will give you more information.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have many bags of plus size clothes from size 16 to 3X that belonged to my wife, who has passed away. I would like to donate them to charity, not for resale. I want people in need to have them free of charge. Many items are new or nearly new, in excellent condition and for all seasons. There are jackets, coats, etc., and many are still in packaging. Anyone interested can call 513-7899.

—Don, Sabattus

ANSWER: This is a wonderful way to honor your wife, Don, and gives Sun Spots the opportunity to share contact information for those who wish to donate gently- used clothing to area “closets” that provide to those who are in need free of charge. If I have missed any, please write and I will add to the list!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: CommUNITY Recovery of Androscoggin County is looking for people in recovery from substance use disorder who desire to share their experiences to help others. We invite interested people to join us for a monthly meeting where we will develop action steps to address the opiate crisis in our community. Our focus is: “Persons in recovery will be active participants in supporting a community that recognizes the full continuum of care and all pathways of recovery.”

Please contact Nicole Garant at 207-783-9141 or ngarant@tcmhs.org to learn more about this initiative. We are eager to hear from those with personal experience and will be offering stipends to individuals who agree to participate in helping us build our community response.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Where can I pick up the Sun Journal in the Fryeburg area? I also have a friend who lives in North Yarmouth who would like to know where to find the paper.

—Sally, Fryeburg

ANSWER: I checked in with our circulation director, Mike. In Fryeburg, you can purchase the Sun Journal at Lil Mart on Main Street and at Bea’s Marketplace on Portland Street. The paper is also available at Center Lovell Market and Rosies Lovell Village Store. Both the Big Apple and Cumberland Farms sell the Sun Journal in Yarmouth. Enjoy!
