Osman Issack and his friend Bhaird carry a case of bananas from a Good Shepherd Food Bank banana giveaway at Kennedy Park in Lewiston on Tuesday morning. A local distribution center donated over 21,000 pounds of bananas to the Auburn-based food bank and rather than risk them all going bad, the organization got the word out and created direct distribution drop-offs at the Maine Immigrant & Refugee Services, the YMCA in Auburn and Hillview Public Housing.
