LEWISTON — The Woman’s Hospital Association Rotating Art Gallery will feature photography by Renée D’Alessandro and paintings by Irene Duplissis through December.
The gallery is at 60 High St., the main entrance to Central Maine Medical Center.
For D’Alessandro, what started out as a goal to learn and master a manual digital SLR camera and photo editing software, has turned into a gratifying hobby and creative outlet. Photographing nature, landscape, wildlife and pets provides a challenge to work in ever-changing conditions and movements. The hobby also allows her to travel, venture into nature and explore the natural surroundings each location offers.
As a lifelong painter, Duplissis is inspired by the beautiful character of New England, blending the past with the present and reminding us of the simple, basic truths around us. She uses transparent watercolor to create her “rustic realism” style. Though her work can be found in various galleries and private collections, she most enjoys outdoor art shows where she gets to meet the people who admire her work.
The artists’ work may be purchased through the WHA Gift Shop next to the main lobby at Central Maine Medical Center. A percentage of sale proceeds benefits CMMC.
