As a registered nurse, I see people every day who can’t afford the health care that they need and deserve. Working Mainers and seniors regularly have to choose between paying for life-saving medicine and making rent or even putting enough food on the table. It is heartbreaking that, in the richest country in the world, we cannot afford to provide quality health care for every one of our citizens.

The Affordable Care Act literally gave life to thousands of Mainers, but there is still a long way to go to make sure everyone is covered. That is why I am a heath care voter.

I plan to hold my Representative, Bruce Poliquin, accountable for voting repeatedly to repeal the ACA and tacitly supporting the Trump administration’s attempts to sabotage the law. I am going to keep calling and emailing him, demanding that he oppose the current attempts to deprive Americans of their health care.

This month it is $1.5 trillion in cuts to Medicare and Medicaid to pay for a massive tax break for the wealthy. When that is defeated, I know they will come up with something else.

I will keep calling to oppose such efforts, and I pledge next year to only vote for candidates for Congress who have stood up for the health of my neighbors and me.
