LEWISTON — Catherine J. Mower, 84, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 8, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston with her loving daughter by her side. She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 13, 1933, a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Morrill) Kavanaugh. She grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools.

In her younger years, Catherine worked for William Orestis and Co. in the linen supply and then later worked at Olfene Supermarket for 10 years as a meat wrapper. From there, she worked in the deli department at Cottle’s Supermarket, which later became Shop ‘n Save and then Hannaford, for 18 years. During that time, in 1968, she met the love of her life, Michael F. Quinn, and enjoyed spending much time with him.

Catherine was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston and she will always be remembered for wanting to spend quality time with her daughter, Peggy Mower.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Peggy Mower of Auburn and Carol of Florida; a brother, Daniel Kavanaugh; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her companion, Michael Quinn; her former husband, Arnold Mower; and her sister, Margaret Soule.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeff Brown for the care and compassion he showed toward Catherine for over 25 years, as well Dr. Strauss for his care and devotion, too.
