DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Gerry Wiles Holiday Food Basket drive kicked off the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Dinner on Oct. 25. Money is continuing to be raised to provide holiday meal baskets to Franklin County families in need this December. The chamber is currently seeking monetary and food donations to provide as many meals as possible. Last year we helped more than 200 families enjoy a warm, home-cooked dinner during the holiday season thanks to the great support of area businesses, individuals and volunteers.
With your help we hope to provide more food baskets this year. Please help us reach this year’s goal of providing over 200 holiday meals to our friends and neighbors in need. Visit the chamber office at 615 Wilton Road in Farmington or find the donation form online at franklincountymaine.org. Donations of nonperishable food are also being accepted at the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. All donations will be accepted until Dec. 9 at 4 p.m.
If you are a family in need, applications for the holiday food baskets are available at the chamber office or online at franklincountymaine.org. Please submit request applications for food baskets to the chamber no later than Friday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. All applications will be reviewed by the Food Basket Committee and granted based on eligibility and availability. If the applicant is granted a basket they will be contacted. Baskets will be available for pickup on Friday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the chamber office.
Please feel free to reach out to chamber personnel with any questions by calling 778-4215 or sending an email to info@franklincountymaine.org.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have written to you before and had great results. I hope I do this time, too. I’m looking to purchase a four-deck card shuffler. Hope you or your readers may know where I can find one. Thanks for all the information you get for us. It is certainly helpful. Please call me at 364-2880.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I will miss the articles on Sunday about the Basilica. Julie-Ann Baumer and all the other writers did a beautiful job. I’m sure Mark Labonte must have been a notable resource. I’ve saved every article to give to my son. He loves history and the stories were so interesting. They will be a good keepsake. Thank you for a job well done!!
— Connie, Auburn
ANSWER: I certainly couldn’t agree more!
