POLAND — Selectmen were expected to finalize the town’s purchase of Camp Connor from the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA on Tuesday night.

The agenda included “Camp Connor Purchase and Sale Agreement” with documents related to the transaction indicating a sale price of $210,000. A closing date of Nov. 10 was specified.

The YMCA had run a co-ed program at Camp Connor on Lower Range Pond for several decades. It is expected that the Poland Recreation Department will use the camp to augment its current youth programs.

Selectmen also had scheduled a public hearing on changes to General Assistance.  Material prepared for the board said one of the changes “increases the overall maximum based on the number of persons in the household.” And, “This means that those who didn’t qualify before for GA because they were over income may now qualify due to the slight increases that were made.”

The next section decreases the amount allowed for food and a third section increases the amount allowed for housing.

Review of repair estimates for the Town Office heating/cooling system were also on the agenda. The repair bids range from slightly more than $6,000 to almost $10,000.

The board was scheduled to hear a presentation on solar energy by Johanna Sorrel of Revision Energy.
