The New England Patriots traded backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, according to an ESPN.com report.

The Patriots reportedly will receive a second-round pick for Garoppolo and now have just one quarterback on their roster, Tom Brady.

Garoppolo was drafted in the second round of the 2014 draft. He has played in 17 games in three seasons with the Patriots, including two starts in 2016 while Brady was serving a four-game suspension.

The NFL trade deadline is 4 p.m. Tuesday.
