AUBURN — Raymond Lucien Fleury I, 76, of 23 Sand Hill Road, died Friday evening, Oct. 6, at Hospice House after health complications due to a fall.
He was born in Monmouth on Sept. 29, 1941, the son of Leonidas and Dorilla Fleury. He lived his early childhood on Lincoln Street before marrying Dorothy Chabot and moving to Sand Hill Road where they raised two children before divorcing. He continued to live there for 25 more years. He spent a brief period of time in the Air Force before beginning work in the shoe industry. His favorite career was definitely as a demolition man working with Charlie Chabot, then Paul Chabot. Hobbies include fishing, camping, playing horseshoes, going to garage sales to add to his ever-expanding collections, but most importantly, spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Rosa.
Raymond is survived by a son, Raymond Fleury II, of Jay; a daughter, Lori-Ann Touchette of Lewiston; two grandsons, Jesse Brooks-Fleury of Dixfield, currently serving in the Marines, and Michael Umayam of Lewiston; two granddaughters, Kimberly Fleury of Jay and Ariana Touchette-Ruiz of Lewiston. Surviving siblings include Sylvia Herrick of Lewiston. Predeceased family members include both parents; one sister, Geneva; and brothers, Roger, Lionel, Roland, Alfred, Adrien and George.
