1923 – 2003

SOUTH PARIS – Etta W. May, 79, of Oxford died Saturday, April 5, at Market Square Health Care Center.

She was born in Norway on June 20, 1923, the daughter of John H. and Gertrude Ritchie Cox. She graduated from Norway High School in 1941. She was employed at C. B. Cummings Co. before leaving to raise her children.

She later worked for Burnham & Morrill, Co. and then back to C. B. Cummings, Co. for over 25 years. She married Frank C. May on April 18, 1943 he died Dec. 30, 1985.

She was a member of the Norway Baptist Church in her younger years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed “rammin” with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Bruce W. and his wife Shannon of Norway and Keith “Rick” of Oxford; two daughters, Paige Harthorne and her husband Larry of South Paris and Vicki May of Oxford; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her special adopted children, Fayleen and Buddy Coffren of South Paris, Karen and Jon Tibbetts of Oxford and Marie and Clyde Pingree of South Paris; as well as all the wonderful, caring and loving people at Market Square Health Care Center who became her family during her stay.
