1926 – 2003
LEWISTON – Reino J. Hill, 77, of Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, died Thursday afternoon, April 10, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Vienna, a son of the late John V. and Ellina Maria (Lakasola) Hill. Mr. Hill attended schools in Vienna and Monmouth and was a graduate of Farmington High School class of 1944.
During World War II he served with the U.S. Army in Iwo Jima as a radio mechanic earning the rank of Sergeant. On Feb. 23, 1951 he married the former Betty A. McCully in Farmington.
Over the years he worked for Sully Greenwood as a carpenter and for Davis Brothers. Since retiring from Hammond Lumber in December 1988 he has been property manager for Farmington Court Senior Complex. He was a member of Roderick-Crosby American Legion Post 28, Farmington.
In addition to his wife of 52 years he is survived by a son, Robert M. of Saco; a daughter, Shirley M. Bourgault and her husband David of Florida; three brothers, Arno and his wife Claire of Wilton, Tauno of Washington State, Milton and his wife Bess of Connecticut; brother-in-law, Robert A. McCully of New Sharon; many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hill was predeceased by two brothers, Eino and Taisto; a sister, Helmi Predham.
