1935 – 2003

AUGUSTA – Robert L. Rand, 67, husband of Hazel M. Rand, died on April 11, at Maine General Hospital.

Born in Lewiston, May 30, 1935, he was the youngest son of Dr. Carleton H. Rand and Alfreda K. Rand.

He graduated from Lewiston High School, University of Maine at Orono and Boston University School of Theology.

He was a member of the New England Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served parishes in Belfast, Bath, Biddeford and Randolph and Portsmouth, R.I. and was the director of Mechuwana, the United Methodist Camp in Winthrop. After retirement, he drove a school bus for Maranacook Community School and played baritone for the Hallowell Community Band.

Survivors include his wife; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. Rand and Phyllis A. Rand of Lewiston; son and daughter-in-law, John D. Rand and Laura Kay Rand of Honolulu; brother, David W. Rand of Lewiston; brother and sister-in-law, James E. Rand and Janis E. Rand of Auburn; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth (Betsy) Merrill and Charles L. Merrill of Augusta; grandchildren, Daniel C. Rand and Linda E. Rand; and several nieces and nephews.
