DETROIT (AP) – A lawyer for a Detroit city employee who filed a lawsuit claiming she couldn’t work because of a co-worker’s strong perfume has settled her case with the city.

Attorney Ann Curry Thompson said Friday the settlement reached Thursday between the city and her client, Susan McBride, includes money but she declined to disclose terms. She said it also sets forth procedures that provides relief for affected workers.

Thompson says the settlement must be approved by the Detroit City Council. Two messages seeking comment were left Friday for a city attorney.

McBride, who remains employed by the city, has said she’s severely sensitive to perfumes and cosmetics. She says the perfume worn by a co-worker in the Planning Department made it difficult to breathe.
