Autumn color presentation in Bethel
BETHEL — Western Mountains Senior College will present “Down Home Maine: Revealing the Mysteries of Autumn Color” from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, in the McLaughlin Auditorium at Gould Academy.
Paul Motts, WMSC member and a recently retired National Park Service naturalist, will explain how the broadleaf trees of New England dazzle with the splendor of autumn colors and why this annual event occurs.
The presentation will be free and open to the public.

Poetry group begins new season
RUMFORD — The Rumford Library’s fourth Thursday Poetry group will begin again at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the library.
The group will set dates for meetings through June 2018, discuss themes for gatherings and share poems.
The event is free and open to the public. Those attending can share poetry and ideas. Light refreshments will be offered.

Daughters of Union Veterans meet
PARIS — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865 Hannah F. Richardson Tent 19, Stoneham, met Aug. 25, at the First Baptist Church on Paris Hill when fall plans were discussed.
The next meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 28, at the same location.
