RUMFORD — Mike and Wanda Worthley, members of the Roxbury ATV Club, were speakers at the River Valley Rotary Club fellowship luncheon on Sept. 11. Both have raised thousands of dollars for private individuals and public organizations.
They gave a presentation on the good work the ATV clubs do for fundraising in the community. After 15 years of volunteering, the couple announced that this is their final year of serving on the board. They will remain members.
The club has approximately 200 members, and they pride themselves on helping start other clubs such as Oquossoc, Mexico and Peru, the Worthleys said.
The clubs are responsible for approaching land owners to allow ATV access and developing, maintaining and improving approximately 175 miles of trails throughout the county.
They said most recently, members gathered to clean up the Roxbury area, and announced the club has received the donation of a building for a clubhouse.
