LEWISTON — Creative Artisans of Maine has announced its upcoming Festival of Learning events for the fall season. Creative Artisans of Maine is a select group of local artists/craftspeople in one location for that “arts and crafts fair” experience.
Acrylic Painting: From 10 a.m. to noon Fridays, starting Sept. 15, for six weeks. Learn acrylic painting techniques from instructor Anita Poulin of Greenwood Gallery. Beginners or experienced painters welcome. Cost $120, some supplies will need to be purchased.
Succulent Terrarium: From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 16. Participants will create a succulent planter, decorating with a variety of sands and fairy garden miniatures. Cost: $25. All tools and supplies are included. Class will be taught by Celeste Yakwonis, Party’n With Plants Maine.
Jewelry-Making, Tree of Life: From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. Attendees will learn wire wrapping techniques and take home a Tree of Life pendant using copper, jeweler’s brass or plated copper wire and natural gemstone chips or colored crystals. Instructor: Lisa Marshall, 2 Blue Gems. Cost: $45, all tools/supplies included
Upholstery Workshop: From 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 26, Oct. 10 and Oct. 25. Learn how to do basic upholstery and what tools and fabric need to be used. Some work will be need to be completed outside class. Instructor: Stephanie Mahr, Refresh. Cost: $60, some tools and supplies provided.
Harvest Festival Open House: Thursday to Sunday, Oct. 5 through Oct. 8.
Jewelry-Making, Tree of Life: From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 7. Instructor: Lisa Marshall, 2 Blue Gems. Cost: $45, all tools/supplies included.
Potion Class for Kids: From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 7. The “fairy tale” Make & Take Workshop is targeted for kids ages 3 to 12 with an adult. Kids make their choice of potions while adults learn about the benefits of essential oils. Everyone will go home with the potion of their choice and a coloring page. Instructor: Cheryl Horton, Life in the Raw, Cost: $15, all supplies included.
Simple Vana’s Style Show: From 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8. Presentation of fall and winter line of clothing. Some materials are woven in Maine and all clothing is made in Maine. Simply Vana’s clothing will be paired up with jewelry by Kathryn Beausang, Riverwalk Studios. Free.
Mosaic Tiling Class: From 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. Learn how to make a switch plate cover. Instructor Rosie Wentworth, Two Zany Duo. Cost: $42, all tools/supplies included.
