NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine, located in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building at 199 Main St., has announced the September calendar of events.

Banding Together to Restore: 10 to 11 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28, at Richard Bader Physical Therapy, 176 Main St. The program, led by Lori Britting, is focused on regaining motion and strength through guided instruction using stretching and colored Therabands. Each participant will be encouraged to work within their abilities. Preregistration is encouraged. FMI, register: 207-890-0329 or register day of class by arriving 15 minutes early.

Yoga Warriors: 3 to 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Posabilities, 15 Tannery St. The free gentle yoga class will support healthy living for individuals facing the challenges of cancer through gentle movement and breath, supportive restorative yoga postures, and guided mediation and relaxation. Yoga for Wellness: 8 to 9 a.m. Fridays. Either Kat Larsen or Sherri will teach the class at the center. It will include breathing, movement and relaxing meditation while seated or standing. Check the website for more information.

Chair Yoga: 2 to 3 p.m. Fridays. Sherri will lead the class. No mats are necessary, chairs are provided.

Reiki Introduction: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8. Charlotte LaBelle of Teresia Reiki will demonstrate how Reiki helps to alleviate stress and promote relaxation.

Stampin’ Up: 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5. Kathy provides materials and instruction to make a variety of cards. 

Coloring for Adults: 2 to 3 p.m.Thursdays. Coloring books and a variety of markers are available.

Walk and Talk with David: Looking for someone to walk around Norway or South Paris with? David will share his favorite walking routes.  Call him at 207-739-7027 to schedule a time.

All programs offered are free to anyone impacted by cancer and caregivers. New visitors are welcome to join in one or all activities.

The center will be closed for a long Labor Day weekend, Thursday, Aug. 31, and Friday, Sept. 1.

Drop-in hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or look for resources. They have pamphlets and a lending library.

The center is also a place to have a cup of coffee or tea, chat with a volunteer or participate in scheduled activities, such as coloring, knitting or games,which are available at all times.
