MONDAY, Aug. 21

AUBURN — City Council workshop and meeting, 5:30 p.m. at Auburn Hall. Agenda includes consideration of an ordinance to allow commercial and residential development at the city’s major recreational areas. 

LEWISTON — Finance Committee meeting, 5:30 p.m. in the administrator’s conference room at Lewiston City Hall. 

LEWISTON — School Committee, 6:30 p.m., second floor of Dingley Building. On agenda is to consider approval of following proposals: student health centers, recording of School Committee meetings and expanding parent-teacher conferences. Plus report on turnover of staff in Lewiston schools. 

AUBURN — The public is invited to gather on the back lawn of the Auburn Public Library from 1:30-4 p.m. to watch the eclipse. The library is out of eclipse glasses, and recommends people bring glasses to safely watch the eclipse. Totality eclipse is expected to happen around 2:45 p.m.

AUBURN — A community meeting with residents of Taylor Pond and the Auburn Fire Department, 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Auburn Hall.

LEWISTON — Joint Charter Commission meeting, 6 p.m. in the third floor conference room at City Hall. 

WEDNESDAY, Aug. 23

AUBURN — Public community forum to share thoughts on the site selection process of the new Edward Little High School, at the high school. The process will consider new locations plus the existing site. Tour of the high school will be given at 5 p.m., forum follows from 6-8 p.m.

THURSDAY, Aug. 24

LEWISTON — Sixth annual Understanding the Juvenile Justice System, presented by Maine Immigrant and Refugee Services, 5-7 p.m., at the Lewiston Public Library, Callahan Hall. The event offers a chance to hear from and ask questions of police officers, juvenile judges, probation officers and other experts. 

AUBURN — New Auburn Neighborhood Watch meeting, 6:30 p.m. at the Sixth Street Congregational Church.
