BOWIE, Md. (AP) — Aderlin Rodriguez doubled twice and singled twice, scoring a run and also driving one home as the Bowie Baysox topped the Portland Sea Dogs 8-6 on Sunday.
Anthony Santander homered and singled with two runs for Bowie.
Scott McGough allowed two runs, but got Deiner Lopez to ground out with a runner on first to end the game for his eighth save of the season.
Bowie went up 4-0 in the second after Austin Hays hit a two-run single.
After Portland scored a run in the fifth on a single by Chad De La Guerra, the Sea Dogs cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Cole Sturgeon hit an RBI single, bringing home Henry Urrutia.
The Baysox later added three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. In the seventh, Santander hit a solo home run, while D.J. Stewart hit a solo home run in the eighth.
Portland saw its comeback attempt come up short after Sturgeon hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning to cut the Bowie lead to 8-6.
Bowie right-hander Lucas Long (8-5) picked up the win after allowing two runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings. Opposing starter Kevin McAvoy (5-7) took the loss in the Eastern League game after giving up four runs and seven hits over five innings.
Sturgeon had four hits, while De La Guerra and Danny Bethea recorded three apiece for Portland in a losing effort. The Sea Dogs failed to capitalize on some good scoring chances, leaving 12 runners on base in the loss.
