LISBON — (George) Henry Whiting, 83, died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at The Lamp on Thursday morning, Aug. 3. He was born in Lewiston on June 12, 1934, the son of the late Howard and Katherine (Hetzel) Whiting.

Henry graduated from Edward Little High School in 1952. He married Dorothy Perkins in 1955 and they shared a loving marriage of over 62 years. Henry worked on the family farm, was a school bus driver, plowed snow, and owned Whiting’s Greenhouse and Florist until he retired in 2004. He loved the outdoors, hanging out at camp, working on his tractors, antique vehicles and other equipment. He was always there to help neighbors and friends. Henry belonged to Grace Lutheran Church, CB Radio club, Perkins Ridge Sno-Travelers and the Masons.

Henry leaves behind is wife of 62 years; his kids, Chris and Dan Nolin, John and Leanne Whiting, Richard Whiting, Bill and Ruby Hall, Heidi H. Rahkonen and Steve; his daughter-in-law, Leah Whiting; 14 grandchildren, Kim, Jimmy, Erica, Heather, Katie, Trevor, Jon, Andrea, Dan, Robbie, Becca, Josh, Michael and Nevaeh; his six great-grandchildren, Henry, Alice, Lilli, Zach, Zeiva and Miley; his sister-in-law, Sylvia Mallory; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his siblings, Kay and Bob Miller, Gert and Dwight Perkins, Thelma and Howard Woodward, Howard Whiting, Iris and Luther Hall; and his son, Tom Whiting.
