WILTON — Police said a two-vehicle accident Tuesday at Routes 2 and 156 sent a driver and three passengers to the hospital to be checked for injuries.
A 2012 Jeep Cherokee driven by Ashley Maher, 21, of New Hampshire was stopped at the stop sign on Route 156, also known as Depot Street, around noontime, Wilton police officer Efra Becerra said in an email. She was driving south and about to cross Route 2 to continue on Depot Street.
Hanna West, 24, of Jay was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang west on Route 2 when Maher failed to yield the right of way, Becerra said.
West had a female passenger in the front seat and a 2-year-old girl and a 4-year-old girl in the back seat. All four occupants were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington to be checked for possible injuries, he said.
Maher and a dog with her were not injured.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, he said.
Members of Wilton Fire Department and NorthStar emergency personnel assisted at the scene.
