LEWISTON — Donald J. Savard, 80, of Lewiston, died Sunday, July 16, in Lewiston. He peacefully rests after a brave battle with cancer and lasting effects.
He was born in Lewiston, Aug. 30, 1936, the son of Albert and Angelina Viere Savard. He attended St. Peter’s School and was a graduate of St. Dom’s High School. He married Marion Melanson on Dec. 19, 1998.
He was a member of the Lewiston Senior Citizens and enjoyed playing cards, bowling and spending time at Old Orchard Beach. He was an avid Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots fan and rarely missed watching a game. He also enjoyed NASCAR, horse racing and watching westerns.
He was an electrician at Bates Hill Mill, Cianbro, and finally at Bath Iron Works where he retired.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion; his parents; brother, Robert; and sister, Doris.
He is survived by daughters, Nancy Grenier and husband, John and Diane Brown and husband, Gary; sons, Michael Savard and partner, Suzanne and Bob Mills and wife, Joleen; grandsons, Nick, Ben, and Alex Grenier, Matt Savard, Joshua and Shawn Brown and Sean and Ryan Mills.
The family would like to thank his neighbors, Dave Stevens and Norm Renaud for watching over him and providing transportation when needed.
