FALMOUTH — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension is offering “Preserving the Harvest” workshops throughout the summer. Upcoming workshops include:
“Preserving Strawberry Jam”: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, July 6, University of Maine Regional Learning Center, 75 Clearwater Dr., Suite 104, Falmouth.
“Pressure Canning Demonstration: Green Beans”: 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 6, Naples Public Public Library, 940 Roosevelt Trail.
“Intro to Water Bath Canning”: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, Law Mountain Wreaths N Bakery, 218 Pond Road, Wilton.
“Boiling Water Bath Canning: Strawberry Jam”: 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, July 21, Naples Public Public Library, 940 Roosevelt Trail.
“Preserving Pickles”: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, University of Maine Regional Learning Center, 75 Clearwater Dr., Suite 104.
UMaine Extension staff and volunteers will teach hands-on, USDA-recommended food preservation methods. Registration cost of $20 a person includes a sample to take home. Fresh produce, canning jars and other canning equipment will be provided.
