Rumford Historical Society to meet

RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society will hold its first spring meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the Town Hall auditorium.

There has been a change of topic from the one previously announced in the Society’s newsletter. A round table discussion will be held with all attendees asked to participate in a conversation on “Memories of My Worst Winter Ever.” If members have photos of past winters, they should bring them to the meeting to be scanned for the archives files. Photos will be immediately returned.

The Nominating Committee will be appointed to select officers and directors for 2017-2018. The nominees will be voted upon at the annual meeting in May.

Light refreshments will be served following the program.

Those attending are asked to enter and exit the building from the River Street entrance by the Police Department.

Storytellers Guild to meet

FARMINGTON — The Western Order of Dedicated Storytellers Guild will meet on the third Thursday of the month through Dec. 21 at the Farmington Public Library, 117 Academy St. 

The next meeting will be held April 20, and it is free to attend.

SeniorsPlus outreach hours in Bethel

BETHEL — SeniorsPlus will be in Bethel from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Norway Saving Bank.

Representatives will answer any questions or concerns community members may have about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families.

The event is free and open to the public.

Retired educators to meet 

WATERFORD — The March 17 meeting of Oxford County Educators Association-Retired was held at the West Paris Universalist Church in West Paris.

John Kimball led the meeting, and a potluck dinner followed. The program was presented by Frank Perham, a West Paris native, who is a well-known expert on Maine minerals and mining.

OCEA-R plans to have a table at the state convention in Augusta on May 4 to highlight the group’s activities during the last year.

The next meeting will be Friday, April 21, at the North Waterford Congregational Church. The meeting will be convened at 11 a.m. and the meal will be served at noon, followed by the 1 p.m. program where Betty Horton will talk about her book, “Boyhood on a Maine Farm.”

The fundraiser will be a bunny basket raffle.

Everyone who is retired from working in the field of education is welcome.

Library offering Story Time

DIXFIELD — There will be Story Time Mondays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ludden Memorial Library, except during school closings and holidays.

There will be stories, crafts and healthy snacks.

Off the Hill Band performing

JAY — AMVETS Post 33 will have music by Off the Hill Band from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 15.

There will not be a cover.
