LISBON — The Rev. Dr. Frederick H. Giese will give a free seminar, “The Soldier in Scripture,” from 9:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday, March 25, at St. Matthew’s Church, 496 Lisbon St., Route 196.
Giese supports the vibrant ministry of St. Matthew’s as pastoral assistant, where he preaches monthly, leads the Thursday night bible study, Men of Jesus Obviously and serves on the Board of Lisbon Area Christian Outreach.
Giese served as a U.S. Navy hospital corpsman and with units of the U.S. Marine Corps. He received two Purple Heart medals for wounds received in combat in 1968. After retiring from the Navy in 1988, Giese became an occupational hearing conservationist and manager of the Audiology Department at the Brunswick Naval Air Base. During 18 years in this position, he received many awards and was twice named the Outstanding Occupation Hearing Conservationist in the Navy.
While working in Brunswick, Giese became aware of his call to ministry. In 2010, he received his Master of Theology degree from the College of the Open Bible Institute and Theological Seminary of Greenville, South Carolina, and in 2011, was ordained a Minister of the Gospel by his seminary. In 2012, he received his Doctor of Ministry degree from the same university. From 2012 to 2015, Giese belonged to a pulpit filling ministry in Maine until he accepted his current position at St. Matthew’s.
Giese and his wife of over 30 years, Vicki, live in Lisbon. They have one son, Jason.
